Kaleidoscope - 12x14 original
My 'Kaleidoscope' piece features hand embroidered French Knots in a multitude of colors with colored wire and golden beads embedded throughout. It started out as one of the designs in my Brilliant Brain Coloring Book, and I stitched it up, added the colored wires which spring up right out of the thread, including a smattering of golden beads.
It took a very long time to complete the stitching and was especially difficult to stitch around the curlicue wires sticking up. After stitching was complete, I stretched it onto an 10x12 set of stretcher bars and painted the background with acrylic paint. I found the perfect black frame which is painted with a lovely gold. The wire bits extend beyond the frame. It is wired in the back for hanging and the full framed piece measures 12x14x1.5.
